The Director of Risk Management is responsible for overall coordination of SPHS Risk Management initiatives intended to reduce risk of harm to our patients ("patients" includes inpatients and outpatients in all our facilities and residents of SPHS continuing care facilities), residents, visitors and employees. Responsibilities include oversight for clinical and non-clinical risk reduction initiatives and workers compensation for all SPHS facilities and operations. Collect, analyze, and report information pertaining to potential liabilities and actual claims made to appropriate senior leaders, CHE and legal counsel. Participate in negotiation of claims settlements. Requirements: " Master's degree in related field and five to ten years of progressively more responsible work related experience plus more than two years of on-the-job training and orientation. Clinical degree and background, such as in nursing, is strongly preferred. " Membership in ASHRM is highly desirable. " Strong interpersonal leadership and communication skills. " Ability to work with multiple levels in the organization including staff, managers, directors, senior leadership, medical executive committee, and board of trustees. " A high degree of ethics and confidentiality is essential for dealing with highly sensitive patient care and peer review matters. " The analytical ability necessary to resolve problems requiring a professional level of knowledge in a specific discipline/field and/or design complex clinical, financial, data processing, marketing or human resources systems and programs.
