About MAHQ

The Massachusetts Association for Healthcare Quality (MAHQ) is dedicated to providing education and opportunities for professional growth for its members, while promoting teamwork and communication within the healthcare community.

Since 1975, MAHQ has provided a forum where persons involved in all aspects of healthcare quality can join together to promote the professional advancement of these aspects of the healthcare field.

Currently, MAHQ has over 170 members from a variety of healthcare settings in Massachusetts.

Shared Goals and Objectives

The rewards of participation in your local professional association include opportunities to meet and network with peers. MAHQ encourages an exchange of ideas and discussion of mutual interests with an objective of enabling members to carry out professional responsibilities more effectively.

  • Enables members to make a meaningful contribution to healthcare with assistance and guidance in the implementation of quality improvement in healthcare and related activities.
  • Promotes, through appropriate means, optimal use of healthcare services consistent with quality patient care.
  • Provides professional resources to all associations interested in improving healthcare quality.

National Affiliation

MAHQ is an affiliated state of the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), the nation’s leading organization for healthcare quality professionals. Founded in 1975, NAHQ is comprised of over 5,000 individual and 125 institutional members. It’s mission is to improve the quality of healthcare and to support the development of professionals in healthcare quality.

NAHQ also offers a variety of benefits, including the only nationally accredited certification program in healthcare quality leading to the designation of Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), the Journal for Healthcare Quality published bimonthly, the NAHQ Guide to Quality Management, and numerous other publications and educational offerings. NAHQ members and dues are separate from MAHQ.

The 2003  National Meeting is in Phoenix, AZ and will be held from September 6 – 9.  If you are attending, please let MAHQ know so we can say hello to you there.

Local Affiliations

MAHQ members are recognized for their role in furthering the commitment to healthcare quality on the local level.

In 2002, MAHQ became a member of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Prevention of Medical Errors, the collaborative initiated in Massachusetts to improve patient safety and minimize errors.

MAHQ members also serve on statewide task forces such as the MassPro Provider Relations Committee and the Massachusetts Health Quality Partnership.
